A world of music to enjoy at Pop Recs Ltd

Acts will be singing the blues at a Pop Recs gig which promises to take the audience's ears around the globe.

First on the bill for the gig on February 6 are bluegrass band Heavenly Thrillbillies who’ll be bringing a flavour of the Deep South.

Also playing are blues duo Auld Man’s Baccie, whose debut album reached No.13 in the national independent blues broadcasters chart.

Sets will also come from gypsy jazz guitarist Marc Playle and local harmonica player Jim Bullock.

Phil Wynn, banjo player in Heavenly Thrillbillies, said: “The huge range of music on offer takes you from the 1930s Paris jazz cafes all the way to Chicago blues, delta blues, goodtime country blues, bluegrass and country music.

“With Jim Bullock playing it could also include Cuban and Latin American tunes.”

The gig starts at 12.30pm at Pop Recs Ltd in Stockton Road, Sunderland, on February 6. Entry is 
free.
