Workshop brings Shakespeare play to Houghton school
Youngsters at a city school saw Shakespeare's work brought to life.
Kepier Academy in Houghton enjoyed a visit from Theatre Space North East and Sunderland Library Service.
They were invited to the Dairy Lane school to run an interactive workshop on The Bard.
They did a 30-minute performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and then played drama games, before getting the students to work in groups and perform a scene from the play.
English teacher Natalie Hodgson said: “The theatre group was amazing and the learners had a brilliant time.
“Events like this make a real difference to our learners understanding of Shakespeare.
“It is something we will certainly be looking to repeat in the future.”
