Woman threatened with knife in attempted robbery in Sunderland

Police are hunting for a knifeman after a woman in her 60s was threatened with a weapon.

An attempted robbery took place on Saturday (March 18) on Brunswick Road, Town End Farm, Sunderland.

The incident happened at 9.35pm, police said, after a man approached a woman in her 60s.

She was stood at a bus stop in the street when the man, who is said to be aged around 18/19 years old, threatened her with a knife.

The woman, who was uninjured, screamed, and the offender ran off along Brunswick Road towards Hylton Lane.

The man is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build and wearing a black padded jacket. He also had short, dark hair.

Officers are carrying out inquiries and are appealing for any witnesses.
