Woman rescued after cars collide in Seaham

A PENSIONER had to be freed from her car after a smash in Seaham.

Firefighters were called to Dene House Road on Thursday.

Crews from Seaham and Peterlee arrived at the accident shortly after 3pm.

Police and ambulance were already at the scene, where it is thought two cars had collided.

The woman was helped from her car and taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, suffering from minor injuries.

*Firefighters from High Handenhold station tackled a small fire in Pelton Fell.

They were called to reports of trees on fire near Dovecote Drive at 5.40pm.

The crew used one hosereel to deal with the blaze, the cause of which is unknown.
