Woman hit by bus in Sunderland

A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being hit by a bus.

Emergency services were called to North Hylton Road, in Southwick, shortly before 1.30pm yesterday.

She was treated by paramedics after complaining of hip pain, and was taken by ambulance to Sunderland Royal Hospital.

Police were unable to say how old the woman is, or how serious her injuries are.

The road outside Sunderland College’s Hylton campus was closed in both directions following the accident.

Officers are investigating the crash and have appealed for anyone with information to call Northumbria Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
