Woman freed by firefighters after breaking ankle in fall
A team of firefighters worked with paramedics to remove a door to reach a woman after she broke her ankle in a fall.
The crew from North Moor Fire Station in Sunderland were called to a house in Greenwood Square, Grindon, after the lady suffered the suspected fracture.
The officers used tools to remove the hinges and then the door from its frame.
They then helped paramedics put the woman on a stretcher and lifted her downstairs, where an ambulance took her to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.
The emergency services were on the scene within four minutes of receiving the call just before 2pm today.
