Woman dies after falling from Quayside in Newcastle

At 7.53pm on Thursday, June 30, police received a report that a woman had fallen from the Quayside footpath onto the marina walkway next to the river Tyne in Newcastle.

Police and paramedics attended and the woman was taken to hospital where she sadly died as a result of her injuries.

Initial reports into police suggested the woman had fallen from the Tyne bridge however enquiries established that this was not the case and that she had fallen from the footpath.

Inquiries are ongoing into the incident and a report into her death has been passed to the coroner.
