A WOMAN had to be cut free from her car after it turned on its side.
The accident happened just before 6.15am today when the vehicle crashed on the A690 in Gilesgate, Durham, outside the Travelodge hotel.
Firefighters from the city, along with a specialist crew from Bishop Auckland, were called to release the driver from the car using cutting equipment.
She was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham for treatment.
The woman’s car was the only vehicle involved in the incident, with the scene cleared by 7am.
