Witnesses sought after van driver attacked in broad daylight in Sunderland

He was parked on Henry Street when he was approached by a man who assaulted him before making off.

The man was left shaken by the incident, which took place at 11.20am, but uninjured.

The offender is described as a white man, of slim build and aged between 20 and 30. He has dark hair and eyes.

He was wearing a blue jacket and hat, and blue jeans with white writing.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the assault, and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 0384 21/01/16, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
