SHE’S a title winner and now Emma Gerry is hoping for a repeat performance.
The founder of Emma Enchanted – who won a What’s On Where award last year – has been nominated for the competition once again.
And when she found out, Emma admitted: “I am a bit shocked. It is lovely that someone has put me forward.”
Emma Enchanted was created initially as a weekend-only venture, but her princess-themed parties, which turn little girls into fairytale characters for the day, with Emma acting in character as a princess, are a real hit.
They are now so popular, she has increased the number of performers from four to 14.
The nomination for Emma said: “She is an absolute credit to Sunderland and an amazing role model for all young people who want to follow their dreams.”
It described how Emma had expanded from working in the Wearside area at first to cover the whole of the North-East.
It added: “No-one comes anywhere near in terms of quality, attention to detail, and magical experiences for the children she meets. Her characters are so believable that children think they have just stepped out of a storybook.”
Emma won the Children’s Entertainer of the Year category in last year’s competition when she was praised for “going the extra mile to make her princesses as believable as possible.” Now she is hoping for a repeat performance in the What’s On Where awards and said: “It is lovely to have some recognition for what I do.”
The awards are held in association with our weekly entertainments guide, Wow 24/7, and aim to reward the elite in everything from restaurants to children’s venues, takeaways to parks and community areas, and hotels to the best shopping experience.
We want you to nominate your favourites in each of the categories listed on this page.
There’s plenty of time to put forward your favourites as the deadline for entries is February 5, next year.
