Plans for the fourth annual festival, which crowdfunded £75k in six weeks last October to keep going, are going from strength to strength, with organisers confirming record ticket sales for the 2018 event so far.

One of the most famous bands to emerge from the 80’s Manchester scene – with a slew of hits including Step On, Kinky Afro and 24 Hour Party People – Happy Mondays will headline on August 31.

Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder said: “We’re all really looking forward to headlining Lindisfarne Festival on August 31. It’s going to be a great party. Love that the festival supports Musicians Against Homelessness too – a great cause.”

Meanwhile, Brighton folk-punk band The Levellers, who sold more platinum, gold and silver albums in the 90s than any other act and are this year celebrating their 30th anniversary, will be headlining the main stage on the Saturday

This year, the home-grown festival, which is often likened to a mini-Glastonbury, will have nine areas for music lovers to explore and enjoy, with a diverse line-up spanning a number of genres.

Acts joining the bill include rockabilly legend Rob Heron, Scotland’s finest ska band Esperanza, Afro-latino drumming sensation the Ladies of Midnight Blue, soulful sister duo Liv’n’G and foot-stomping guitarist Ben Catley, who will be flying in from West Australia (returning to his Geordie roots) to bring his high energy, feel-good coastal music to the ears of UK festival-goers.

Other acts already confirmed include, The Showhawk Duo, Dub Pistols, Ferocious Dog, Skinny Lister, Holy Moly & The Crackers, Detroit Social Club and Colonel Mustard & the Dijon 5.

Set against the backdrop of Holy Island in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Northumberland coast, Lindisfarne Festival has been steadily growing year-on-year since its inception in 2015.
