This prize isn’t Bad, you really can’t Beat It!
Direct from London’s West End, Thriller Live will be moonwalking to Wearside and you could be there for free. To mark the show’s run at Sunderland Empire next month, we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away for opening night on January 25.
Now in its seventh year in the West End, the show celebrates the 45-year career of Michael Jackson. It features two hours of non-stop hits from pop to rock, soul to disco, as the cast play homage to Jackson’s legendary live performances and innovative dance moves.
Cleo Higgins, lead singer of pop group Cleopatra, heads the international tour cast of Thriller Live after a year in the West End, where she earned rave reviews for her Jackson-like vocals.
As lead singer of Cleopatra, aged 13, Cleo had three Top 5 hits, sang for the Pope and supported The Spice Girls on tour. In 2013 Cleo reached the final stages of The Voice.
She said: “I’m a huge Michael Jackson fan and I identify with him. I’m an Eighties baby - I come from the same era. When he died I literally cried every day for a year. His death reminded me how connected I felt to him as a person and musician, but I didn’t recognise how strong those links were until then. My favourite song I get to perform in the show is They Don’t Really Care About Us.
“I get to feel the energy Michael gave when he sang, when it was recorded. I get right into that zone and I feel every word. We celebrate his incredible legacy in Thriller Live. His songs will never die.”
