PICTURE this – a chance to win VIP tickets to this summer’s festival of pop.
North East Live, to be held at the Stadium of Light on June 22, will feature some of the country’s favourite pop acts including JLS, The Wanted, Rita Ora, Little Mix, James Arthur, Conor Maynard, Stooshe, Union J and Amelia Lily.
Now Sunderland AFC is offering city schoolchildren and students the chance to play their part in the big day by putting pen to paper.
Primary school pupils are being asked to draw a picture about what they think the concert will be like. Drawings could feature anything from pictures of the acts to families and friends enjoying the show.
A montage of the artwork will be displayed for tens of thousands of music fans to see on show day, and the winning entry will take pride of place in the display. The winner and their school will each receive four VIP tickets to the show.
Secondary school and college students will also have the chance to participate, with a competition to test their writing skills.
They are being asked to submit a mock review of what the concert will be like.
The winner will be invited to attend the show and write an actual review, which will appear on Sunderland AFC’s official website, www.safc.com.
They will also receive four VIP concert tickets for themselves and their school/ college.
SAFC commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “We’re encouraging children to be as creative and original as they want and really get into the spirit of North East Live.
“It’s a fun, family-friendly event for the whole region, and we want to involve as many people as possible in the show and the build-up to the day.”
SAFC has been in touch with schools and colleges directly with details of the competition, but any schools who would like additional information on how to get involved should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
