WIN: Tickets to see pop star Peter Andre's North East gig

The singer, who became the sixth highest-selling artist in the UK during the ’90s after releasing smash hit record Mysterious Girl, is set to play Newcastle City Hall on March 3.

The former reality TV star and prime-time presenter said: “Music is my number one passion, it always has been and always will be.

“It’s not just about singing, it’s about performing on stage. The show in Newcastle will be a night full of entertainment. I can’t wait to be back there. Newcastle is a great place and home to PJ and Duncan and Cheryl.”

Reminiscing about his first visit to the region, he said: “I have a little bit of a story about Newcastle. I was there for the first time about 18 years ago, I was unknown and had just come over from Australia.

“I got out of the car and everyone started cheering. I thought why are they cheering? People were saying, ‘top lad, top lad,’ and I was thinking this town is fantastic.

“I thought they must have Australian TV channels and that’s how they know who I am. But they didn’t, it was because I was wearing a jacket that was black and white, the colours of Newcastle United, so it was nothing to do with me.

“It was a great welcome and my first memory of Newcastle,” added the Mysterious Girl singer, who always gets a “great reaction” when the pop song is performed live.

“The reaction to Mysterious Girl is always great, but on this tour we’ll probably do a swing version as well as the original,” added Peter.

The feel-good pop song peaked at number two in the UK singles chart when it was released from his second studio album, Natural, in 1996.

Following his appearance in I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! Peter has gone on to sell more than one million copies worldwide and most recently scored a top five UK album.

In 2014, Peter released his ninth studio album, Big Night, and the first single – Kid – was chosen to be the official song for DreamWorks animated movie Mr Peabody and Sherman.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star, who grew up listening to funk and soul music, says he loves a variety of music and this will be reflected in his Peter Andre Live tour.

“I’ll have a big funk band on tour and I think the opening number will probably be Prince’s 1999. That’s how much we want to rock the house. I might throw a few Strictly moves in, too,” added the doting father, who married Emily MacDonagh, 26, last summer.

Having had a lot of his personal life broadcast live on TV while married to Katie Price, Peter says that right now keeping things simple at home helps him juggle touring with being a father and hus-
band.

The father-of-three, who had Amelia, his first daughter to Emily, in tow during the interview, said: “If you can keep the normality at home, then you can do anything.”

In addition to I’m A Celebrity and Strictly Come Dancing, Peter has starred in his own reality TV shows including ITV’s Peter Andre: The Next Chapter and has presented Peter Andre’s 60 Minute Makeover and Give A Pet A 
Home.

“Reality TV was fantastic but I’d like to do a different kind of reality, like doing something with food and experiencing different cultures. I’d prefer to do that than something at home, but who knows? Maybe in the future, I’d never say never,” added the singer who is planning on opening a chain of restaurants soon.

“I’m looking at opening my own restaurant chain all over the country. We’re looking for the right location for the first one. I don’t want to say too much about it in case it doesn’t happen. So watch this space.”
