FANCY supping on free cocktails for a year?
We’ve teamed up with new bar Port of Call to give away the perfect prize for rum-lovers.
To celebrate the opening of the new venue next month, we’re giving a reader the chance to win two cocktails a week - for a whole year!
All you have to do is get your thinking cap on and come up with a name for one of its new cocktails.
Your version of the classic Caribbean Mai Tai will sit alongside a signature list of 14 rum-based cocktails at the £1million venue which has been built from scratch on the site of the former Chase in Park Lane.
As well as rum, the bar will specialise in other tipples including craft beers and will be serving grilled seafood and meats late into the evening.
Stephen Hunt, marketing director for the three-storey bar, which will have an industrial theme in keeping with Sunderland’s ship building heritage, said: “Port of Call with its purpose made signature list of 14 cocktails is looking to take guests on a journey that will push boundaries that will unfold and explore not only the wonder of Rum but many other spirits.
“Each Cocktail has been designed to challenge your taste buds with a fusion of tradition and innovation. All staff will be highly trained in cocktail making and will be willing to engage to find out which cocktail suits the guest’s requirements best.”
The ingredients which will make up your cocktail are:
•20ml plantation 3 star silver rum
•20ml plantation Barbados 5 year grand reserve rum
•20ml Pierre Ferrand orange Curacao
•10ml Plantation dark Overproof rum
•20ml lime juice
•four large chunks pineapple agave cooked pulp
•Garnish: green chartreuse atomisation.
To be in with a chance of winning, email your cocktail name suggestion, with an explanation behind your choice, to Katy.Wheeler@jpress.co.uk. Make sure to include your name and contact details with your entry.
Closing date: December 4.
