TODAY the Echo is launching a new appeal to help find new homes for stray cats across Wearside.
The campaign, called Smitten with a Kitten, will feature a different cat each week from the Willows cat shelter in the hope it will find them a new family.
Willows is a small but caring and dedicated shelter that has been helping stray and abandoned cats for many years.
And all the cats that they rescue are defleaed, wormed and neutered before rehoming.
This week, Primrose is in the spotlight after being taken in by the shelter.
Willows owner Maria Harrison said: “Primrose was living rough in freezing weather shivering behind a bin.
“The shelter was told that her owners got a new puppy and she was so afraid she stayed outside.
“Her previous owners gave priority to their new pet and Primrose was left to fend for herself.
“She is a quiet, loving, mature cat who would suit a retired person in a quiet household and would offer wonderful companionship.”
If you would like to adopt Primrose, or any of the cats at Willows, contact Maria on 536 6221, Susan on 07718 884 771 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
For adoptions, which must be strictly by appointment only, the staff do their very best in matching the cat to the new adoption home.
They also promise to be there for people adopting after they take a cat in with any advice that may be needed.
The Willows Shelter, on Wantage Street, South Shields, is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am until 2pm, and Saturday from noon until 2pm, for free advice and guidance on cat matters.
