THE couple will celebrate Phil’s birthday with a party and fund-raiser tonight at the Westwood in Washington.
Phil and Carole hope to raise as much money as possible for the Northern Brainwave Appeal, which Carole said was vital to the life-saving treatment Phil had received at the RVI thanks to consultant Nick Ross.
She said: “I am in no doubt that Mr Ross has saved my husband’s life twice, and everybody on the team in ward 15 at the hospital has been fantastic.
“The Northern Brainwave Appeal is vital in the care given to patients and has raised more than £2,000,000 for the hospital in the 10 years it has been running.
“Every penny we raise at the fund-raiser will go to the charity.”
Carole added: “Phil wanted to go round and personally thank everyone. He’s so exhausted now I don’t think he will be able to do that.
“But he has never had a party organised for him before, so I just hope he relaxes and enjoys it. Doctor’s orders.”
