The Black Cats parted company with Grayson after a 3-3 draw with Championship bottom club Bolton Wanderers at the Stadium of Light.

The result actually saw Sunderland climb a place to third-bottom but wasn't enough to save Grayson his job, after just olne win in 15 league games since he took over in the summer.

Sunderland fans took to Twitter to comment on the sacking. Here's a selection of what they had to say:

@middsey89: Next appointment has to be someone to get the fans back on side and make it actually exciting to go to a game for a change #SAFC

@JRuddy_1: Now we're looking for another manager! We are a poisoned chalice, no manager will want to take the job, especially under Ellis Short. #SAFC

@binnsy1973: They've just sacked the only person who would take the job in the summer so god knows who'll take it in their current position! #safc

@JosephSpeckman: So why was David Moyes not sacked midway through the season after dropping into the relegation zone ? #safc

@paulmack1982: Job was too big for him, I had hope after the Norwich 3-0 but it's been dire since then. Should have been sacked earlier #SAFC

@B52Head: Glad Grayson has been sacked. No results on pitch, squad harmony terrible, club in dire straits. Better get a good manager in. #SAFC

@harry_horton: Who in their right mind would take on the #safc job? No manager wanted it in the summer. Position even less attractive now.
