Who was the comic hero?
Many years ago I recall buying a comic maybe the Victor or Hotspur.
Every week the front page featured a cartoon story of a true hero.
On this occasion I was told by the newsagent who sold me the comic that the man who performed these heroics and saved lives was from Sunderland.
Does anyone know who he is and what he did that earned him such a accolade.
