Next Wednesday, July 13y, Jim O’Connor will give a talk entitled Dorothy’s Well at the meeting in Whitburn Methodist Church hall at 7pm.

Whitburn Festival Fun Day in Cornthwaite Park was blessed with sunshine even though the weather just a little further inland proved less pleasant. Young and old alike enjoyed the various stalls, activities, sports, rides and refreshments along with live music from Cat’s Night Out. Strawberry cream teas were served in the parish church, raising more than £200 for the church maintenance funds. The Whitburn Churches Together Flower Festival, themed to celebrate and commemorate high profile anniversaries in 2016, was held this year in St Vincent’s RC Church and well-attended by local people and visitors from far afield. The annual festival is financially supported by South Tyneside CAF grants and by hard-working personnel from South Tyneside Homes. The organising committee would like to express their grateful thanks for this invaluable help in making the event a resounding success.
