Whitburn and Marsden’s Got Talent, part of Whitburn Summer Festival, proved a great success with a capacity audience in the parish church hall cheering on the young performers in their quest to be a star. Acts ranged from singing and dancing to magic, hula hoop skills and a piano recital.

All the children received a prize for their magnificent efforts. Special awards went to the charming Foundation stage Frozen Choir, to Finlay who expertly played the piano and to Sophie whose gymnastic ballet dance enchanted everyone, all from Whitburn Village Primary school, and to Erin who sang My heart Will Go On even better than Celine Dion, from Marsden Primary School. Sophie, who was unanimously declared over-all winner 2016, received the Star Trophy.
