South Bents Townswomen’s Guild will be attending the Sunderland Federation AGM tomorrow in Grindon Community Association at 2pm. There will be no evening meeting. Next Tuesday, April 19, the Regional federation luncheon will be held in Bishop Auckland Methodist Church. On Wednesday, April 20, South Bents Committee will meet at 6.30pm in Whitburn Methodist Church hall prior to craft class at 7pm.

Whitburn Local History Group will meet on Friday in the Barnes Institute from 2pm to 3.30pm. Phil Curtis will speak about Our Finest Hour. Admission is £2 and all are welcome.

Souter Lighthouse, the gift shop and tea room are open daily from 11am to 5pm. On Sunday from 10am to 2pm, join Marsden Circular Ramble with Souter Rangers and the local Coastal Conservation Group. This is a spectacular seven-mile walk with slopes and uneven terrain over Cleadon Hills and along the sea cliffs passing Windmill Field, Marsden Old Quarry and Marsden Rock, spotting seabirds and other wildlife along the way. The Barnes Institute is delighted to welcome back Slimming World on Tuesdays at 7pm. The consultant is Joanne and she can be contacted on 07540 626 237. On Friday mornings, starting this week, a new exercise class comes to the Institute at 10am. This is called Actify and is a fun way to get fit for those who need to be seated but wish to enjoy low impact and non-intense workouts. It is perfect for beginners, older people and those with mobility problems or recovering from illness/surgery. The Barnes Institute has many regular activities available to all on a weekly basis, including line dancing, children’s confidence boosting classes, Tai Chi, karate, circuits, card craft class, ukulele group, a well-equipped reasonably priced gym and dog training classes. A coffee morning is held every Monday and Wednesday from 10am-noon to which all are welcome.
