South Bents Townswomen’s Guild meets tomorrow at 7pm in Whitburn Methodist Church hall. Ladies will be celebrating Easter at the social studies meeting with a seasonal bonnet competition. There will be no meeting on March 30.
The Cultural Spring Choir, Singing with Music in the Minster celebrated the last gathering of this term in the Barnes Institute with an informal concert followed by a bring-and-share supper. The audience of family and friends enjoyed the excellent Acapella singing from an enthusiastic group of performers who look forward to continuation of the choir next term. Future plans are being discussed and details will be available soon.
This week, Holy Week, there are daily services at the parish church. For details of times, contact churchwardens Lorraine on 529 2628 or John on 529 3935. On Good Friday, Whitburn Churches will congregate together at 10.45am on the Village Green for a joint open-air service. This will follow Mattins in the parish church, a service in the Methodist Church and Stations of the Cross in St Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church, all starting at 10am. Refreshments will be served in the Methodist Church after the service. At 2pm that afternoon, Last Hour at the Cross will be observed in the Parish Church.
Souter Lighthouse, the gift shop and tearoom are now open daily from 11am to 5pm. Easter Egg hunts will be held this weekend from Friday to Monday inclusive from 11am-4pm. These are suitable for children of all ages and cost £3 per child. Booking is not necessary.
