South Bents TG will meet tomorrow to celebrate its 49th birthday with dinner in the Sea Hotel, South Shields, at 6.30 for 7pm. Next Wednesday, November 4, members will support the Sunderland Federation coffee morning at 10am in St Mary’s Church Hall, North Bridge Street hosted by Broadway TG.

Souter Lighthouse including the tea-room and gift shop is open daily this week, including Friday, from 11am to 5pm. Until Friday you can Get Crafty and make a bird feeder from 11am to 4pm each day. Booking is not necessary and each feeder kit costs £3. On Saturday, from 11am to 4pm, join in a Halloween Spooky Trail with haunting crafts costing £1 per trail. Half-term activities take place at various venues in South Tyneside this week, including athletics and football, which attract a charge, but Activity Express and Lego craft sessions are free. Singing with Music in the Minster does not meet this evening but will restart next Tuesday, November 3, at 7pm.

A new toddler activity group, called The Story Den starts at the Barnes Institute next Tuesday, November 3, at 10am. These will be fun-filled sessions for mums and toddlers with books coming to life through songs, dance, games and art. Little Page Turners for 2 to 4-year-olds is from 10 to 11am, with Baby Bookworms for 12 to 24 months from noon to 1pm. Whitburn Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild is holding a coffee morning in the Cricket Club on Wednesday, November 11, at 10.30am. There will be a homemade cake stall and official RNLI souvenirs on sale, including Christmas cards and calendars. Included in the ticket price of £2 is unlimited tea and coffee with biscuits and festive stollen.

Coghlans Cookery School is holding a pre-Christmas meal with canapés, drinks reception and Christmas Pop-Up Shop on Friday, December 4, in the parish church hall.
