South Bents Townswomen’s Guild will support Sunderland Federation Coffee Morning tomorrow hosted by Tavistock TG at 10am in St Mary’s Church Hall, North Bridge Street. Next Wednesday, 14 October, the Federation 60th Anniversary Luncheon will be held at the Rosedene Hotel. There will be no South Bents evening meeting.

Souter Lighthouse, including the tea-room and gift shop, is open daily except Fridays from 11am to 5pm during October (open on Friday 30 October). On Sunday from 10am to 2pm, join Souter Rangers and the Coastal Conservation Group on a spectacular seven-mile walk over Cleadon Hills and along the sea cliffs passing Windmill Field, Marsden Old Quarry and Marsden Rock. This walk is suitable for groups and dogs on leads are welcome. Please meet in the Foghorn Field shortly before 10am wearing appropriate clothing and footwear. Singing with Music in the Minster, part of the Cultural Spring programme, meets in the Barnes Institute each Tuesday evening from 7 until 8.30pm, working towards an informal presentation in December. All ages and abilities are welcome to join any session during the time and there is no need to be able to read music. A voluntary contribution of £2 per session will be welcomed.

Whitburn Methodist Church Women’s Fellowship meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Tomorrow’s speaker is Revd Marie Beard. The Church Anniversary and Gift Day is on Saturday at 2.30pm. The Three Wise Men from Cleadon will provide entertainment followed by refreshments. On Sunday, a Celebration Songs of Praise service will be held at 3.00 pm. All are welcome to attend the service with a bring and share tea afterwards.

Zumba classes take place in Whitburn Parish Church hall, Sandy Chare on Mondays from 7.30 to 8.15pm, with alternate Zumba and Fitsteps classes on Wednesdays from 9.30 to 10.15am and Thursdays from 6.15 to 7pm. A Clubbercise class is on Thursdays from 7.30 to 8.15pm. All classes cost £3.50 each or 10 classes for £30 and are taught by Tanya Walker. Clubbercise is fun, easy to follow dance routines using glow sticks in a darkened room with disco lights. 1st Whitburn Boys’ Brigade is planning to celebrate 30 years of Boys’ Brigade in Whitburn. As part of this celebration, a service will be held at the Methodist Church, North Guards on Thursday 15th October at 6.30pm. The Leaders and Boys would like to invite any past members or leaders to join them at the service. Tea & Coffee will be served in the Church hall after the service, when there will be the opportunity to share past experiences and to renew friendships.
