The Barnes Institute is holding an AGM on Saturday at 2pm and all are welcome to attend, especially if you are interested in taking an involved role in the future management of the Institute. The Trustees will present the financial report for 2014/15 and the annual report of developments during the past year. The sustainable future of this historic community asset, belonging to and used by Whitburn residents since 1905, is dependent upon maximum support from local volunteers to ensure its viability. Currently the small but active committee is looking for dedicated help with finance, fund raising, administration, maintenance and attracting new users. Please contact Carol Shield on 0191 529 3935, or 07767 156 134, or clshield@talktalk.net for more information, to enquire about booking the premises or to offer help.

The final presentation of live music in the Victorian Bandstand, South Marine Park, South Shields, will be on Saturday, featuring Rivelino. Harton Quays craft fair is on Sunday from 10.30am to 3pm. This is the last one until Christmas.
