The Barnes Institute would welcome new users who wish to become acquainted with the Institute and help towards its sustainable future. It is a historic community asset, used by Whitburn residents since 1905, worth preserving, but needs maximum support from local volunteers to ensure its viability. Currently, the small but active committee is looking for committed help with finance, fundraising, administration and attracting new users. An AGM is planned for Saturday, September 5, and all are welcome to attend, especially if you are interested in taking an involved role in the future management of the Institute. Contact Carol Shield on 529 3935, 07767 156 134, clshield@talktalk.net for more information, to enquire about booking the premises or to offer help. The Barnes Institute needs you to survive.
