What Sunderland need to happen this weekend ...

Of course, that’s not as easy as it sounds.

The Black Cats need to get some wins - and fast.

The early kick-off this weekend sees Manchester United arrive at the Stadium of Light. Louis van Gaal’s side are unpredictable - let’s hope they have an off day and a fired up Sunderland can grab the three points.

Here’s what other results I think we’d all like to see this weekend.

Bournemouth v Stoke: The Potters are one of the Premier League clubs I like the last; though that’s more to do with their style of recent years.

We need Mark Hughes’ Stoke to find their form after a recent dip and grab a win to keep the Cherries looking over their shoulders.

Chelsea v Newcastle: The Blues are still unbeaten under Guus Hiddink, but it’s very much a W we want to see on their record after this game.

Crystal Palace v Watford: There’s only a point between these sides, both of who look sure to stay up. Even so, a win for Watford would be nice.

Everton v West Brom: Can West Brom please maintain the level of display they put on against Newcastle last week please? It’s got to be an Everton win - lets keep the Baggies in danger.

Norwich v West Ham: Now in the drop zone, Norwich are in freefall. They look strong candidates for the drop - hopefully some West Ham’s stars can secure an away win. Let’s hope they are not too tired after their extra-time FA Cup win against Liverpool on Tuesday.

Swansea v Southampton: We need teams to falter badly in coming games, and that includes Swansea. If Southampton can win (and Sunderland also triumph), then the Swans would be only four points ahead of the Black Cats. Fingers crossed!

On Sunday, it’s more about the top than the bottom of the Premier League, with Arsenal hosting Leicester, and Manchester City entertaining Tottenham.

At the bottom, we’ll be looking for Liverpool not to be so generous as last Saturday, when they visit Aston Villa. Maybe Christian Benteke will find his goalscoring boots?
