WEARSIDERS endured a quick change as the Indian summer gave way to Sunday’s downpour.
And the North-South divide seemed more prominent than ever over the weekend.
While Londoners put another sausage on the barbie yesterday, Wearsiders put up the umbrellas.
It was a very different picture from just 24 hours earlier, when the region saw temperatures of up to 25°C in what was nationally the hottest October day on record.
But the Indian summer was too good to last as temperatures fell to 17°C yesterday and the rain arrived.
Dog walkers braved the weather on Seaburn beach, desperately trying to keep dry under umbrellas as their four-legged friends got some exercise.
While it is expected to be dry today, more rain is forecast to arrive on Wednesday.
