A MUM-of-two is looking forward to seeing in the New Year with a new face.
Wendy McDonald, 53, of Houghton, was chosen as the winner of an Echo competition to transform her look with £3,000 worth of procedures from Natural Contours in Ashbrooke.
For the next six weeks she will undergo a series of treatments, including botox, fillers and permanent make-up, which promise to shave years off her appearance.
Wendy, who works as a sales rep for a printing company, said: “I feel like 10 years have gone past so quickly, I look in the —mirror and see my mam.
“When I read about the competition in the paper, I thought it could give me the change I need. I’m 53, but I don’t feel it. I love life, but all of a sudden age catches up on you and I feel I should spend more time on myself.”
Wendy, who is married to Andrew, 46, said: “I put a little weight on when I got married and then lost two stones and I don’t know if that affected the elasticity in my skin. I like to think the lines are because I laugh too much.”
Aesthetic specialist nurse Susan Thursby, owner and director of Natural Contours in Douro Terrace, said she chose Wendy as the winner because of a poem she penned as part of her entry.
“I was captivated by her poem, it showed me just how much she wanted to have this done,” said Susan. “Then when I saw her photos I could see exactly what I could do for her.
“I wanted to find someone who I could show off all the work that can be done in the clinic on, and Wendy is perfect for that.
“I’m so passionate about what I do and I can’t wait to get started on Wendy, I’m probably more excited than she is. It’s like she’s a blank canvas and she’s allowing me to paint.”
Wendy, who is mum to Michael, 25, and Fay, 20, added: “I’m not nervous. Susan put me at ease as soon as I walked through the door.”
