This is when temperatures could reach close to 20C in Sunderland this Easter weekend

We are all now living in unprecedented times, with lockdown restrictions imposed on out everyday lives which aim to tackle the spread of coronavirus.

But those of us who are able to get out for some daily exercise will have noticed the milder weather over the last few days.

And that warm weather looks set to continue this Easter weekend as temperatures soar to 18C in Sunderland over the course of the Bank Holiday.

But despite the good weather conditions the Government is urging people to stay at home this Easter to help prevent the spread of the virus.

What will the weather be like in Sunderland on Good Friday?

Today looks set to be a mostly cloudy day but remaining mild, with temperatures reaching as high as 14C.

The morning will see some hazy sunny spells and light winds are expected.

Overnight it will remain cloudy with highs remaining at 14C.

What will the weather be like on Saturday?

Saturday will be the best day of the weekend with temperatures reaching 18C by 1pm.

It will be a mix of sunshine and clouds, but staying warm throughout the day and overnight, with highs of 14C.

What will the weather be like on Easter Sunday?

Easter Sunday will be a cooler day and will remain cloudy throughout, but with some sunny intervals.

The maximum temperature will reach just 10C by mid morning.

What is the long-term forecast for the North East?

The weekend’s warm weather looks set to turn cool as the new week begins.

The Met Office said: “Becoming cooler, more showery and unsettled on Sunday.

“More settled again from Monday but much cooler, with some sunny spells but probably rather cloudy overall. Sharp overnight frosts returning.”
