Weather warning for high winds at storm Jorge set to hit Sunderland

Named by the Spanish meteorological service Agencia Estatal de Meteorología on Thursday, Storm Jorge will track across the north-west of the UK over the weekend bringing another spell of strong winds and heavy rain.

The Met office renewed it's yellow weather warning on Saturday morning and advise that travel disruption is to be expected.

The high winds will reach the North East on Saturday afternoon and are expected to increase into the evening and overnight into Sunday.

Gusts of winds could reach up to 48 mph on Saturday night and gusts over 40mph are expected throughout the day on Sunday.
