The Met Office outlook for Wednesday, January 22 to Friday, January 31 said: “After a frosty start on Wednesday, most places are expected to be cloudy, but mostly dry with light winds.

“The odd spot of rain is possible. Further into the week could be wetter and windier at times.

“Later on in this period, the most unsettled weather is likely to remain in the north, where some hill snow is possible.

“Temperatures will generally be a little below average at times.”
