What will the weather be like in Sunderland this morning?

Cloudy, but dry until around noon. The temperature won’t rise above 4C and there will be a fresh breeze.

What about this afternoon?

Rain is expected to fall from around midday, becoming heavier as the afternoon progresses. Temperatures will be around 3C, but gusts of wind of up to 30mph will make it feel more like -2C.

What will the weather be like this evening and tonight in Sunderland?

Better than the afternoon. The rain will die off at around tea time and it will be cloudy but dry for the rest of the day. The temperature could reach as high as 7C towards midnight and the wind will drop slightly.

A yellow weather warning is in place for Saturday, February 29 due to the wind, with gusts over 40mph expected and a maximum temperature of 6C.

What is the long-term forecast for the North East?

The Met Office UK outlook for Tuesday, March 3 to Thursday, March 12 said: “Next week looks to stay unsettled with further spells of strong winds and rain, interspersed by sunnier, showery interludes.

“Snow is likely in the north, mainly over higher ground, though there is a chance of seeing snow to lower levels at times.”
