Sunderland warned to expect 'strong winds' as Met Office issues Yellow warning
Windy weather is expected to batter Sunderland and the wider North East as Met Office forecasters release a Yellow alert.
Families are being warned to batten down the hatches on Friday, February 21 with strong winds of up to 50mph forecast throughout the day.
A Yellow warning, announced by the Met Office today – Wednesday, February 19 – expects that the windy weather will be at its worst between 8am and 8pm and that some disruption to travel could be expected.
The further blustery weather follows Storms Ciara and Dennis, which reaked havoc across the country with high winds and a downpour of rain earlier this month.
Forecast for Sunderland on Friday predicts temperatures between 7°C and 10°C, with the highest winds expected between 3pm and 6pm.
There are separate weather warnings for heavy rain in place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, affecting other locations across the UK.
