A blend of folk pit pop and colliery brass band, eight-piece Dennis will take to the stage at Durham Gala Theatre on Friday, June 10, to celebrate the launch of debut album Open Your Eyes.

As well as Dennis, the evening will feature performances from Houghton Brass Band and Houghton Area Youth Band.

Following the success of the previous three EPs, Dennis recorded their debut album throughout 2015 / 2016 utilising community spaces. The new music will be showcased at the Gala gig and has been inspired by the region’s cultural and industrial heritage.

Speaking about teaming up with Houghton Brass Band and Houghton Area Youth Band, a spokesman from Dennis said: “Both bands have been integral to the nurturing of Dennis members’ musical and social footings amidst a brass bands community spirit.

“In recognition of this, the Dennis finale at the Gala Theatre will provide a wider opportunities experience for young musicians in an onstage
collaboration of all the shows musicians performing together for the very first time, providing a brass folk-pop extravaganza.”

The band has already built up a firm following in the North East with sell out shows at Live Theatre Newcastle and The Sage Gateshead under their belt, as well as appearances in London and on festival stages.

Previous tracks from their EPs have received airplay on Radio 1 and BBC 6Music, as well as local stations.

It’s also been announced that the band will play Sunniside Live on July 16 in Sunderland, a city centre festival headlined by Brand New Heavies.
