Wearside League: Unstoppable Stockton Town champions for fourth year in a row

Adam Nicholson, Stephen Roberts and Sonni Coleman were the marksmen in a comfortable 3-0 victory at Annfield Plain.

Soon after leaving the field, the Teessiders learned that their only remaining rivals for the title, Redcar Athletic, had been held to a draw by Spennymoor Town Reserves.

Robert Thompson and Kyle Morris twice had Moors in front and ,after Michael Woodhouse cancelled out the opening goal, there were only three minutes remaining when Chris Bivens claimed a point for Redcar – but it was not enough and Stockton celebrated.

Sunderland West End are now competing with Redcar and third-top Cleator Moor Celtic for the runners-up prize.

They easily saw off 10-man Leam Rangers 3-0 at the Hilltop ground with strikes from Barry Turton (2) and Keiron Martin.

When they trailed by just one goal, Leam had Anthony Huddart sent off in the 24th minute for retaliation.

Cleator Moor are a point ahead of West End after defeating Boldon CA 2-0, courtesy of goals by Stuart Shaw and Tom Mahon.

Horden CW are up to fifth. Although they had their work cut out against lowly Wolviston, the Colliers emerged 2-1 winners thanks to Kieran Campbell and Matthew Hughes. Luke Bennington was the visitors’ only scorer.

Silksworth CW found Hartlepool, who scored 10 times at the weekend, again in rampant mood and were beaten 4-0. Ashley Clark rifled a hat-trick and John Stephenson also netted.

Ewan Vasey and Daniel Lydon were Harton and Westoe’s marksmen in a 2-2 derby draw with Jarrow, for whom Stephen Graham (pen) and Peter Kane replied.

Chris Patterson, Kalumn Holbrook and Jason Newall earned Richmond Town a 3-0 win at home to Whitehaven.
