Wearside League: Three back as Silksworth CW look to fend off Boldon CA in fight for fourth place

Silksworth CW look to consolidate fourth place in an attractive clash at fifth-top Boldon CA tomorrow (2pm).

The Wearsiders are five points better off than their hosts, but Boldon have two games in hand.

Silksworth manager Andy Stobbart said: “I have a big squad this week to choose from, as in the last game against Leam Rangers (a 6-3 home win a fortnight ago), we had several players missing.

“I will decide on the fitness of a couple of key players, but hopefully I will be able put out a strong team, with Michael McVay, David Stevens and Andrew Donnelly all returning.”

Boldon CA manager Paul Mossa has said: “Aaron Burn will face a fitness test as he has been out for three weeks with a dead leg. But other than that we have a full squad to choose from.”

Sunderland West End hope to get back in action after two blanks weekends when they host Wolviston at Ford Quarry.

Manager Barry Cook said: “We are only missing Callum Hodgson through work. Otherwise we have a big squad to choose from.

“We’re looking to keep our momentum going after last week’s postponement.”

Wolviston will have striker and leading scorer Junior Masandi and captain Shaun Gregory back from injury, but Karl Barry is missing because of work commitments.

Manager Steve Cook said: “It is vital for us to get a game of football in after missing the last two weeks without a game and the return of Junior and Shaun means I have a full squad to choose from, for the first time this season.”

Durham County Trophy finalists Ashbrooke Belford House are without a fixture, though they still have 15 league matches to fit in.

Coxhoe Athletic journey to bottom club Harton and Westoe CW and have Robert Thompson and David Gibson unavailable.

But new signing goalkeeper Luke Cowie is added to the Beechfield Park squad.

Harton will be without Nick Pain, who is away at work, but there are several players available again.

Dominic Sirrell returns as well as twins Jordan and Cory Fenwick.

Skipper Paul Trosh and veteran Wes Brown should also be back to give manager David Crumbie a few selection headaches.

Leaders Jarrow entertain South Shields Reserves in an attractive derby.

Jarrow have Stevie Graham suspended, while Darren Morton and Kai Elliott are unavailable and Gary Frater remains out injured.

Aaron Kah and Max Kirkham may be fit enough to join the squad.

Boss Dave Bell said: “South Shields Reserves beat us earlier in the season 1-0, so we know this is a really difficult game and another that we really need to be at our best to get anything from the game.”

Shields Reserves manager Kevin Bolam will be without both Jack Donaghy and Matthew Davidson for the short trip to Perth Green, while influential skipper Gary Crutwell is out suspended.

Bolam is looking to sign a forward to bolster the squad in time for the match.

Third-placed Redcar Athletic entertain on-form Darlington 1883 Reserves, with David Abel finally back from two months out, following the frustration of successive postponements.

Michael Woodhouse is suspended.

Prolific striker Andy Jennings suffered a gash to his head against Richmond Town a fortnight ago, but he is expected to be fit. Lewis Wood and Joe Blackburn may have work commitments, while Chris Atkinson is still recovering from a rib injury.

Second-top Richmond Town, six points behind Jarrow with three games in hand, host Windscale and have new signings Mike Weston and Adam Cocks both available to make their league debuts.

Defender Michael Gunnell is still missing with a knee problem, but Liam Darville returns to squad after six months out with his knee injury.

Full-back Ryan Fitzwilliam faces a fitness test today to see if he has recovered from the toe injury which ruled him out of last weekend’s 4-2 win over Harton & Westoe.
