Wearside League: Moody, Renton take Silksworth CW up to sixth place
Silksworth CW climbed to sixth place in the TWR Bifolds Wearside League with a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Darlington Reserves last night.
Silksworth struck after five minutes, when Stephen Moody tapped in past goalkeeper Matthew Bancroft, and it was 2-0 on 12 minutes, when Nathan Renton headed home an excellent cross.
Darlington managed to pull a goal back on 30 minutes through Jamie O’Brien, after a defensive mix-up, but Silksworth took the points to go sixth, with one match still to play.
Fourth-placed Sunderland West End were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Richmond Town.
Kalumn Holbrook scored for the Yorkshire outfit after 10 minutes, direct from a free-kick past goalkeeper Neal Bussey.
