Wearside League: Ashbrooke Belford House raring to go for the run-in '“ after withdrawing resignation

Belford are back in action tomorrow with a first game since February 4 – after a difficult time in recent weeks which saw the club quit the league before later withdrawing the resignation.

Manager Stuart Burton, whose side entertain South Shields Reserves at Silksworth Welfare Park (2pm kick-off), said: “Saturday will be our first game back in two weeks, so we will have a fully fit squad to choose from.

“We have had a bit of disruption of the last few weeks, but are back on track and hoping to finish the season well.”

Shields missed the suspended Gary Crutwell, but new signing Frankie Hucks is available.

Secretary Philip Reay said: “The lads were beaten 2-0 last Saturday by Jarrow. We have had a series of mixed results the last couple of months, and need to get a bit of consistency to start winning.”

Fourth-top Silksworth CW journey to title-chasing Richmond Town in the match of the day.

Silksworth are unbeaten in six games but expect a very tough afternoon.

Secretary David Steele said: “Of the teams that we have played this season, Richmond were by far the most impressive I’ve seen.

“They were good value for their win at our place earlier in the season, and we will travel without Adam Storey, who unfortunately injured his ankle in the warm-up last week and had to be replaced by David Stevens. who himself has come back from injury.

“Apart from that, we have a full squad available with the return of Josh Perry, and look forward to taking on one of the best footballing teams in the league.”

The Dalesmen have captain and leading scorer Scott Ryan suspended and winger Chris Pattison (knee) missing.

Sunderland West End, disappointed by successive defeats, are at home to third-placed Redcar Athletic.

West End manager Barry Cook said: “We have a very hard game against a good Redcar side.

“We hopefully should have a full squad to choose from and hope to bounce back from a very poor performance last Saturday. We welcome Layton Chapman back into the squad after serving a ban.”

The travelling Seasiders should have strikers Sam Garvie and Adam Preston fit. However, an ankle injury is likely to again keep out defender Chris Bivens. Michael Woodhouse returns after a one-match suspension.

Seaham Red Star Reserves face a difficult task at home to leaders Jarrow.

The table-toppers have Kai Elliott, Darren Morton and Gary Frater available again, but Aaron Kah remains injured and Steve Graham serves the second game of a three-match suspension.

Jarrow boss Dave Bell said: “This is another important game for us and we are looking to improve on last week’s performance where we were not at our best and played below our recent high standards.

“The squad has been excellent this season and we know what we need to do to lift our performance again.

“We know this will be another tough game for us. What has not been in doubt this season is our hard work and we again need to make sure we continue with this effort.”

Coxhoe Athletic manager Paul Cooper is without Philip Best for the visit of Wolviston.

But David Gibson returns from a two-match ban and new signings Dan Lowerson and Gavin Brown are added to squad.

Wolviston have top scorer Junior Masandi back after missing last week’s game due to a family problem, while midfielder Josh Chambers also returns. Utility player Dimitri Kehi is still out with an ankle injury.

Captain Shaun Gregory said: “We have now gone two games unbeaten against two very good sides, so it is imperative that we maintain our form and gradually pull clear of the bottom two.

“I do not underestimate how difficult it will be against Coxhoe Athletic, who are having a tremendous season.”

Boldon CA head to neighbours Harton and Westoe CW, who got a big boost with their midweek win over Sunderland West End.

Boldon manager Paul Mossa has six centre-halves available, with Oliver Bone back from holiday and Aaron Burn and Jonny Gage back from injury quicker than expected.

Captain Jack Lawton, though, is out for another week.

Harton boss David Crumbie has been encouraged by the midweek win and last week’s loss to Coxhoe, when his side had to play 80 minutes with 10 men after young keeper Dan Hebden was dismissed for handling outside his box.

Nick Pain is still missing and Wess Brown is also unavailable, but Andrew Burden and defender Paddy Jackson return.

Leam Rangers expect to see the return from injury of goalkeeper James Lone and midfielder Dean McCallum away to on-song Darlington 1883 Reserves.

Hartlepool, without a game over the last two weekends, face the long trip to Cleator Moor Celtic, while Prudhoe Town host Windscale.
