Wearmouth Bridge alert ends with person taken to safety
The emergency services were sent to the Wearmouth Bridge in the early hours of today after concern for someone on the wrong side of its railings.
The report was made at 1.20am today, when police called for the the help of a team from HM Coastguard.
The team was stood down before they arrived after officers said the person had been found safe and well.
