A MODEL car club is appealing for help to create a fleet of miniature brewery vans.
The North East Diecast Club is hoping to design and build a range of delivery vehicles dating back to the last century.
However, members are struggling to find information and photographs of vans at the former Vaux brewery, in Sunderland.
Stan Walton, treasurer for the club, said: “We’re really looking for any old photographs or information on the various vehicles that were used at Vaux.
“We know they existed. They used specially-branded vans and lorries, which were often seen in the area.
“We’ve asked around, but so far we haven’t had much of a response.
“Also, there doesn’t seem to have been much written on them and we haven’t had much luck at the local libraries and archives.
“Hopefully, people who perhaps worked at the brewery at one time may have photographs we can take a copy of and use to build the models.
“We want them to be as accurate as possible.”
The club, which regularly takes part in toy fairs in Bowburn, near Durham City, is also appealing for more details on vehicles used at the Castle Eden and Camerons Brewery, in Hartlepool.
“We’re hoping to create a whole range of model delivery vehicles from various breweries,” said Stan, 65, from Peterlee. “It’s a difficult task, but we’re determined to see it through.”
