We fought for welfare state

Forty-nine years ago I enjoyed having paid maternity leave, sick pay, holiday pay. There were proper full-time jobs and no such thing as zero hours. Part-time jobs were plentiful for those who wanted them. No widespread agency workers with the lack of workers' rights.

The National Health Service and the welfare state were not the creation of the EU. Britain was the only country in Europe with all these benefits years ago.

How dare politicians and trade unions claim that it was the EU? We have to thank our parents who fought for the welfare state. The EU had nothing to do with it. In fact, the EU has driven off work for the masses with cheap migrant labour.
