Watch fans rush for the front as The Vamps play South Tyneside Summer Festival in South Shields

Fans desperate to catch a glimpse of boy band The Vamps queued overnight to see them at this year's South Tyneside Summer Festival.

Festival organisers said people started gathering at the gates of Bents Park in South Shields at 11pm last night.

Some fans had even travelled from as far as Germany to see The Vamps, who headline the second Sunday concert of the summer today.

Michelle Degh, Annabelle Scholte, Michele Stuhr and Lisa-Marie Droste flew to Manchester from Cologne in Germany, where they attended a signing session with the band, before getting the bus up to South Shields.

Michelle, 24, said:"I have been a fan for a few years now, ever since they did covers on YouTube.

"We travelled here from Germany and got to meet them at the signing in Manchester yesterday and they were really nice."

Thousands of people have turned out to the gig today with all 5,000 priority tickets selling out ahead of the show.

Other acts appearing on today's bill include New Hope Club and The Cutkelvins.
