Jes Harbottle, 16, of Washington, will be among the 30,000 Scouts taking part in the 23rd Jamboree being held in Tokyo.

Nissan Leisure General Manager Garry Collin was delighted by the promotion of Washington Football Club, The Mechanics, into Ebac Northern League first division. To celebrate the team’s achievement he organised a Community Family Festival. Rotary Club of Washington members were delighted to be part of the celebrations along with all the stalls promoting crafts, food , interior design , graphics and fashion. Stalls of particular interest to Rotary was being able to meet Padma Rao, lead coordinator of Sangini,which is a multicultural women’s organisation, helping black and minority ethnic women. The onfield entertainment was first class, with music and dancing, climbing wall, bouncy castle and roundabouts – something for all the family. The next charity event for Washington Rotary will be the annual, fun family bike ride, on Sunday, September 27, from Washington Arms to the Stadium of Light and back, using the C2C route.
