Warning drugs stolen from pharmacy could prove fatal

Strong painkillers snatched from a pharmacy in a night time break-in could prove fatal, police have warned.

Lumley Pharmacy, in Lombard Place, Great Lumley, was burgled in the early hours of today,

Durham Constabulary says intruders forced entry to the building and stole prescription drugs including morphine, fentanyl and oxycodone and a shop till containing a small amount of cash.

A police spokesman said: “Public safety is paramount and if anyone is offered these tablets we would strongly advise that they do not take them as they could prove fatal.

“Anyone with information about this incident should call police on 101 quoting reference number 29 of October 31.”
