RAINY weather didn’t deter walkers from taking a guided tour of one of Durham City’s historic gardens.
Sherburn Hospital, in the tiny settlement of Sherburn House, dates back to the 12th century.
The gardens include a 17th-century terrace and 18th-century informal landscape planting.
Walkers, under the guidance of expert Martin Roberts, were also taken through the deep woodland surrounding Sherburn Hospital.
The walk was one of a series organised by the Old Durham Gardens Group. Dates of future walks are on the group’s website: www.olddurhamgardens.co.uk
