Sunderland new boy Wahbi Khazri is confident Sunderland can get out of the bottom three - based on what he's seen over the last few games.

The Black Cats have produced three strong performances against high-flying opposition since Khazri's big-money move from Bordeaux.

The narrowly lost 1-0 against Manchester City, before fighting back from 2-0 down to draw with Liverpool at Anfield and then beating Manchester United 2-1 last weekend.

The Black Cats remained in the bottom three as they headed out to Dubai for warm weather training, but Khazri says they have proven over the tough run of fixtures that they're good enough to beat the drop.

He said: “We played big games and we’ve showed that we’re worth more than the bottom three.

“It will be good to recuperate properly and work on a few things because the matches come around so quickly.

“We’ve just got to take it match-by-match and do what we need to stay in the Premier League.

“It’s very tight down the bottom and all we need is a good run of wins.”

Sunderland travel to West Ham on Saturday when they return to Premier League action.
