AN armed thug threatened a driver while he sat in his van and demanded cash.

The man had parked his vehicle at the side of the road when the robber appeared at his window.

He demanded money from the driver, who refused and a scuffle broke out between the two men.

The driver suffered cuts to his face and arms during the dust-up.

Police believe the injuries were caused by a metal shard.

The attacker is described as Asian, about 6ft tall, of slim build, with long, wavy hair.

He was wearing a canvas jacket and jeans at the time and spoke with a Yorkshire accent.

He drove off empty-handed in a M registration, dark blue car.

The attempted robbery took place on the B1288, near the Millburn pub at the junction for Springwell Village, on Monday at about 2.10pm.
