PALS of Jordan Cooper held a minute’s silence in honour of the tragic 14-year-old before a cup semi-final.

Jordan, of Newriggs, Washington, was stabbed to death last Tuesday.

Sunderland Nissan Porto Under-14s paid tribute to the Biddick Comprehensive School pupil before their Durham County Cup clash with Ryton Vipers.

Funds are already being raised to create a memorial to the popular teenager, with hoodies emblazoned with the slogan “Keep calm and remember Cooper” on sale.

l Jordan’s uncle Alan Cooper, 31, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday charged with his murder.
